The enclosed
utility is FREEWARE for evaluation
use only.You can freely distribute without my expressed permission.This version
of the utility will expire after January the 1th of year 2001. For
those who want to use it further, it will be available to purchease for a small
amount of money. Meanwhile, the development will continue and the commertial
version will include a lot of extra features based on your feedbacks.
What
is it used for?
Haberci is an
add on to the ArcServeIT Backup Software for WindowsNT platform.It is tested
with only ArcServeIT 6.61 Advanced Edition and , there seems to be no reason for
any incomplience with the other versions of ArcServeIT running on NT . The aim
of the utility is to eleminate the human intervention of daily routine
analisis of backup logs of ArcServeIT. This will be done automatically by the
utilty itself after each backup task completes. The output will be reported by
e-mail to predefined persons. By this means, if anything went wrong last night
during the backup process, everybody (possibly
including the CEO ) will be notified about
the inconvenience.
The utility
is triggered by ArcServeIT software itself. This will be possible only if you
edit the appropriate field in each task file. Pre/Post tab of the
ArcserveIT task files during configuration,must include the full path of the
utility unless the exacutable (haberci.exe) is placed into a search path.
How
to configure it?
Before the
initial use, you must run the utility's executable file with <config>
option.
This will let
you modify mail recepient list and your SMTP server name or ip-address. You can
also preset "lower threshold disk free space" warning for your servers
hard disk. This will be usefull for your taking preliminary measures before a
database problem arises.
What
kind of problems are reported?
Actually
every incident including the succesful backup sessions will be reported
immediately after the job fails or completes .This typically may be a non
writeable BAD-TAPE case or an EMPTY
CARTRIDGE drive.The detailed information can be analized by means of an attached
full report log text of
that specific job.

What......?
To
sum up, the output of the application will come up with an e-mail message to the
specified users in the above configuration dialog . Click here for a sample

What
are the other features?
Only two
extra features are added at this phase:

Disk free
space low warning.

files not merged into database warning.
